How to create a dreamy light in your bedroom

In the bedroom, the focus is on rest and relaxation. While a lot of emphasis is placed on a cozy look when it comes to furnishings, this is unfortunately often forgotten when it comes to bedroom lighting. Yet bedroom lighting plays a role that should not be underestimated when it comes to creating an atmospheric feel-good atmosphere. By the way: light can do even more: depending on the color of the light, your bedroom lighting can help you fall asleep and wake up. Learn more about what you should consider when buying bedroom lamps and how you can create the perfect light.

CREATE LIGHT ZONES: READING AND DRESSING.

Two areas of the bedroom in particular often need extra light. This is where zone lighting comes into play. On the one hand, there should be additional light in the bedroom near the closet, and on the other hand, you should also provide sufficient light for reading next to the bed.

A floor lamp in a corner between the mirror and the closet would be conceivable, for example, so that a last critical look at the outfit can be taken in the morning.

Unfortunately, it is often dark and confusing, especially in the closet. The remedy is spotlights mounted on track systems above the closet, or furniture lights that are built directly into your piece of furniture.

For reading, we recommend table lamps, which, placed on the nightstand, are not only a source of light, but also a beautiful decorative object. If you have limited space next to your bed, wall reading lamps are a practical alternative, as they can be mounted directly on the wall. Conveniently, many of the wall sconces offer a shelf, eliminating the need for a nightstand.

INDIRECT LIGHTING IN THE BEDROOM

Indirect lighting is considered by many people to be particularly cozy. Therefore, it is not surprising that many pieces of furniture and especially beds are already equipped with built-in LED lighting, bringing their own light into your bedroom.

But even a bed without integrated lighting can be retrofitted with self-adhesive LED strips and become a highlight in the bedroom. Of course, the strips can also be optionally attached under other furniture. The indirect lighting makes it look as if your bedroom furniture is gently floating above the floor.

THIS LIGHT COLOR FITS BEST IN THE BEDROOM

As with bathroom lighting, it is advisable to go for both activating and calming color temperatures in the bedroom. Especially in winter, when it is still dark outside, daylight white light with a color temperature of about 5,300 Kelvin is very suitable to make us awake and thus better start the day. However, what is a great help when getting up in the morning would not be a good idea in the evening - just before going to bed - so warm white light colors of up to about 3,000 Kelvin should rather be chosen. If you want to keep things simple, you can use lamps and bulbs with adjustable white tones (tunable white) so that your bedroom lighting always has the right color temperature.

WHICH LAMPS YOU SHOULD CHOOSE FOR YOUR BEDROOM

As mentioned above, it's worth buying lamps with tunable white function, so your lamps will help you fall asleep and get up. For romantic moments, you should also pay attention to the dimmability of the lamp. Lamps with a 3-step dimming function are particularly practical, as they allow you to choose between three brightness levels with a normal wall switch, depending on your mood.

In addition to the additional functions, however, the technology of the bulbs also plays a role. Here you should definitely go for LED. After all, with a service life of more than 10,000 hours, modern LED lamps are not only extremely durable, but thanks to their very low energy consumption, they also protect the environment and your wallet.

Tip:

You can also easily equip your beloved retro bedroom lamp from the flea market with new LED lamps and turn it into a real energy-saving wonder.
